Kia ora koutou,
It has been great to see all of the wild wigs at school today. Thank you to everyone for your contributions which all go directly to the Child Cancer Foundation. Check out some of the photos on Facebook.
Tomorrow we are holding a Junior Olympics event for all LC1 - LC3 students. This has been made possible by a small team of LC6 students as part of their inquiry 'More than Medals'. They have worked incredibly hard on this and learned some really valuable skills as part of the process. The staff have been really impressed with their detailed planning and organisation and they have all lived up to our school vision (Connected, Empowered Contributors). Well done to Avana-Grace, Kyla and Payton for your organisation skills and Eliyah and Mason for your support with this awesome event.
This Friday, the Friends of Te Kōwhai School crew are hosting our annual Quiz Night. They have done an incredible job getting this organised and it is set to be a fun night. Tickets sold out in record time this year due to it's popularity. Thank you to FoTKS and also to all of the sponsors that have made this fundraiser possible. The Friday 13th theme is sure to turn some heads!
Next week (Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th September) we are holding our Whānau Catch-ups. These are optional for families and can be booked via THIS LINK. If you have missed a time, you can email your child's teachers to sort an alternative time.
As you are no doubt aware, we have a lot of sickness around currently, including staff. Whilst we are very lucky to have a good pool of consistent relievers to support staff illness / absence, we like all other schools, are struggling to find enough people to keep all positions filled every single day. Last week, as an absolute last resort, we had to do our first class split where one LC had to be split across the other LC's for the day due to no relief teachers being available. Thanks to the flexibility and adaptablility of our staff and students everyone coped with this remarkably well. We are prepared for this should it ever happen again.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
