Principal's Piece

Kia ora e te whānau,
As we head into Week 7 next week, a lot is happening around school!
We are excited to welcome our Deputy Principal, Cameron Burrows, back to school next week. Cameron has been on extended sick leave while caring for his wife, Natalie, after surgery and looking after their young baby, Dallin. A big thank you to Justine Flynn for stepping into the role of Deputy Principal during his absence.
This week, we're buzzing with the energy of our student teachers who are with us for their full-week placement. It's wonderful having them here, and our students are really enjoying learning alongside them. In the above photo will see some of our LC6 Students starting on an experiment with their Student Teacher, Ethan.
Get ready for some fantastic performances! Our School Production 'A Hope for Tomorrow' is just around the corner, on Monday, June 16th, and Tuesday, June 17th. This was an additional optional opportunity for students to participate in if they wished. See further details within this newsletter.
Upcoming Events
We've got some exciting events on the calendar for our students:
- The annual National Young Leaders Day for our Year 7 & 8 Students, next Wednesday - always inspiring.
- Good luck to all our students participating in the Tough Guy and Gal Day next Thursday, June 12th!
- Our Year 7 and 8 students will be showcasing their skills at the Ki-O-Rahi Tournament next Friday, June 13th.
Matariki Celebration and Inquiry Open Afternoon
We warmly invite you to join us for our special Matariki celebration on Thursday, June 19th. This will be held in conjunction with our Inquiry open afternoon, and you can find more detailed information about this below in the newsletter.
Mid-Year Reporting Update
We're currently finalising our mid-year reporting information, which is being aligned with the new 'phases' framework and the new curriculum. More information about this will be shared in Week 8, and updated progress data will be available at the end of the term.
We look forward to seeing you all in and around school over the next few weeks at these various events and activities!
Ngā mihi
